Ingredients

  • 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • vegetable oil for frying
  • 1 bottle Panda Express Orange Sauce

How To Make Homemade Orange Chicken with Panda Express Orange Sauce

Step 1: Prepare the Chicken – In a medium sized bowl add flour, cornstarch, salt and pepper then whisk. Then add the egg, water and 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Mix until ingredients are fully incorporated. Once batter is made, cut the chicken breast into bite-sized pieces and add to batter. Stir the chicken in the batter to ensure that all the chicken is covered and ready to marinate. Cover the bowl of chicken and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Step 2: Fry the Chicken – Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat or in a deep fryer at 350. I prefer to use my deep fryer as it keep a consistent heat and it has a convenient basket. Using tongs remove each piece of chicken from the batter and place in the frying oil in batches of 10 – 15 pieces. Fry the chicken until they are golden brown and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per side. Transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Step 3: Combine the Chicken and Sauce – In a large mixing bowl, add the fried chicken pieces and drizzle the Panda Express Orange Sauce until evenly coated.

Step 4: Serve and Enjoy – Serve your homemade Orange Chicken hot, alongside steamed rice or your favorite stir-fried vegetables, for a delicious meal that will rival your favorite takeout!
