What Ingredients do I need to make Chocolate Dipped Oreos?

Easy 5 minute chocolate dipped Oreos are a very easy and delicious treat that can be made many different ways. Choose your Oreo then choose your chocolate coating flavor and top with your favorite toppings. Easy as 1 – 2 – 3!

Oreos – There are many different Oreos that you can choose from. I prefer the Double Stuf Oreo with a chocolate outer coating. There are many different Oreo options out there and many of them would make a great treat. Some of my favorite combinations are a mint filling with white chocolate coating and Golden Oreos with a white chocolate coating.

Candy Coating- I like to use the Almond Bark Chocolate Flavored Candy Coating from Walmart. You can also use Wilton candy melts.

Toppings – Today we just used sprinkles, but you can also use nuts, salt or even drizzle with more melted chocolate.

How To Make Easy 5 minute Holiday Chocolate Dipped Oreos

Step 1: Gather Your Ingredients – Begin by assembling all the necessary ingredients and equipment. Ingredients you will need are: your favorite Oreos, 24 ounces of chocolate candy coating, and sprinkles, nuts or coarse salt. The equipment you will need includes a microwave safe bowl, rubber spatula, knife, cutting board, and parchment paper. Having everything ready will make the process smoother and more enjoyable.

Step 2: Chop Chocolate – Using a sharp knife and cutting board, chop chocolate candy coating into chunks and place in a microwave safe bowl.

Step 3: Melt and Stir- Melt chocolate in the microwave for 30 seconds. Take out of microwave and stir. Continue microwaving in 30 second intervals until chocolate is smooth. It is important that you stir the chocolate well after each 30 second interval to prevent the chocolate from burning.

Step 4: Dipping time – Prepare for dipping the Oreos by laying out a sheet of parchment paper either on a baking sheet or the counter top. Drop your favorite Oreos into the chocolate and flip with a fork, then lift and tap off the excess chocolate.

Step 5: Add Toppings – Quickly add toppings before chocolate dries. I usually dip 3 or 4 at a time and then add the toppings, or you can have someone help by adding toppings after you dip them. You can choose from a variety of toppings; sprinkles, nuts, salt, crushed peppermint candy or even drizzle with more chocolate.

Step 6: Enjoy! – Easy 5 minute Holiday Chocolate Dipped Oreos can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for 3-4 weeks.

What to do with leftover chocolate

I was raised with the saying “waste not, want not!” and chocolate definitely does not go to waste in this house. There are a couple of things that you can with the extra chocolate leftover once all your Oreos have been dipped. You can either use the extra chocolate to drizzle over the top of the dipped Oreos or you can make a chocolate bark. This time I decided to make a chocolate bark with pretzels and sprinkles. Simply pour the leftover chocolate on a piece of parchment paper and quickly add whatever toppings you would like. We chose pretzels and sprinkles today. Be sure to move fast because the chocolate has already cooled from dipping the Oreos. If needed you could microwave for another 20-30 seconds before pouring. Once chocolate has hardened you can either break it or cut it with a knife and enjoy!
