Butter – 6 tablespoons cut up. Cutting the butter up allows it melt faster and spread evenly.

Eggs – 6 Eggs

Milk – 1 cup

Salt – 1/2 Teaspoon

Toppings – Maple syrup, berry syrup, powdered sugar, jam or fresh fruit.

How To Make The Ultimate German pancakes

Step 1: Prepare pan – Start by cutting 6 tablespoons of butter in a 9x 13 glass dish. Then Set aside.

Step 2: Mix – In a mixing bowl add 6 eggs, 1 cup of milk, ½ teaspoon salt and 1 cup of flour. Whisk until smooth.

Step 3: Preheat and melt – Preheat the oven to four hundred and twenty five degrees. Once oven has preheated place glass dish in the oven until butter has melted.

Step 4: Pour and bake – Remove from oven and pour batter into hot butter and return to the oven for 18 to 20 minutes until pancakes are nice golden brown.

Step 5: Top and enjoy – Cut into as many pieces as you would like, I usually cut this into either 6 or 8. This can be eaten by itself of you can top with maple syrup, berry syrup, powdered sugar, jam or fresh fruit.

  • In a 9 x 13 glass dish, cut butter into smaller pieces and set aside.
  • In a medium sized mixing bowl add eggs, milk, salt and flour and whisk until smooth.
  • Preheat oven to 425℉.
  • Once oven is preheated, place the 9 x 13 glass dish in the oven until butter is melted.
  • Once butter is melted, pour in batter and return to oven. Bake for 18 to 20 minutes until golden brown.
  • Cut and serve with maple syrup, berry syrup, powdered sugar, jam or fresh fruit and enjoy!
